Partners in Development (PID) is a nonprofit 501(c) (3) organization located in Alexandria, Virginia. PID seeks to address critical development issues facing Africa such as economic empowerment of women and youth; brain drain resulting from large scale immigration of Africans to the west; and promotion of green business entrepreneurship through programs that facilitate knowledge transfer and mentoring of small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) in Africa.
PID seeks to mobilize the African Diaspora to become development partners short-term capacity building activities targeting primarily the African private sector. PID also seeks to involve the African Diaspora in youth employment schemes involving their financial and technical support using information technology/Internet.
PID has an additional objective of mobilizing African Americans to become involved in Africa as potential development partners through collaboration with various professional and civic associations. We seek to undertake this by disseminating economic, historical, and cultural information about Africa to strengthen historical ties and encourage opportunities for tourism; and philanthropy.
