This Section Represents the Experience of PID Associates

Project Design
  • Undertook a program of research and proposal development for the establishment of a pilot program promoting social entrepreneurship in Africa for the Seven Fund.
  • Prepared concept paper and activities plan for an information technology transfer program involving African Diaspora professionals for the United Nations Development Fund for Women.
  • Prepared a feasibility study addressing IT capacity building for the Addis Ababa Chamber of Commerce in Ethiopia.
  • Undertook social assessments as input into the project design phase of a World Bank funded Natural Resource Management project in Egypt. The objective being to identify the priorities and needs of Bedouin communities in the context of planned training and microfinance services. Special focus was made on women who faced significant socio-cultural constraints.
  • Participated in a project identification mission to develop a microfinance based poverty reduction program in Tanzania for the African Development Bank.
  • Designed a strategy for the implementation of a capacity building program targeting microfinance institutions in Ghana for the African Development Bank.
  • Developed a pilot program to promote education of the girl-child using beneficiary assessment methodology for a poverty reduction project being implemented by the Government of Ghana and UNDP.
Monitoring and Evaluation

  • Coordinated an international technical transfer and business linkage components for the Digital Diaspora Initiative in Rwanda implemented by the United Nations Development Fund for Women.
  • Evaluated a five-year beneficiary assessment program supporting a World Bank funded sericulture (silk production) project in India. The objective was to assess the extent to which various project components met the needs of targeted farmers in various parts of India.
  • Evaluated a three-tiered sustained employment generation project addressing policymaking, vocational education, and the informal sector for a UNDP/ILO project in Ghana.
  • Evaluated a reproductive health program for UNFPA in Uganda.
  • Developed monitoring and evaluation guidelines incorporating gender sensitive indicators for the Central Evaluation Division of UNESCO.

Other Activities
  • Preparation of tool kit on women and HIV-AIDS for UNFPA.
  • Preparation of Case Study on the use of social analysis in addressing HIV/AIDS in Niger for the World Bank.
  • Preparation of a bibliography on the use of social analysis in implementing HIV/AIDS related programs for the World Bank.
  • Preparation of a guide on using social analysis in addressing gender issues in World Bank Projects.
